Craig Austin Prout

Managing General Partner

After growing up in rural Michigan and while attending Central Michigan University in 1993 Craig began his career working at the base level in the pipeline integrity arena, starting first with Close Interval Survey data processing and then moving into CAD support for as-built and design drawings of galvanic anode beds.

In 1995 Craig moved out of the office and into the field starting at a laborers level in linear anode, pipeline reconditioning, conventional ground bed and telecommunication installations.  After a short 9 month departure in 1997 Craig was recruited back to the industry in 1998 where he moved into a field project coordinator’s role keeping him close to the work while he kept up with project invoicing, material inventories and as-built requirements of various projects.  Over the next several years Craig grew through various roles in project management becoming the assistant division manager of the integrity services construction division at a large firm in 2005.

The sister Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) unit, of the company, was awarded several major projects in 2007 that saw Craig make an internal move to spearhead those efforts, which eventually included both international and domestic work primarily focused on the Oil & Gas and Electric sectors.  Many of the projects involved significant marine activity in both support and assistance with critical applications.

In 2013 an opportunity arose to begin building a division, within the parent company, that would once again target traditional construction projects aimed at pipeline integrity and AC mitigation installations.  While able to assemble a quality team that had initial success, there was a realization that long term growth would also create internal domestic backlash through overlapping customer competition.  After a brief stint in Australia, to assist in expanding the parent companies reach in global markets, it became clear that to achieve long term goals and conduct business in a manner consistent with his core values, the right move was to return to the US and start Helios Rising, Inc.
